Athletes of the Year
The school year is coming to a close and the senior athletes are being recognized with the Athlete of the Year awards. Judith Hernandez & Juan Guzman were both awarded the Athlete of the Year award and answered these questions:
What sports have you done throughout the 4years of high school? What made you want to do these sports? How do you feel about being the athlete of the year? How would you describe yourself as an athlete?
I’ve done cross country, wrestling, and track. I did long distance running because it helped me become mentally strong and fit. It also helped me clear my mind and was fun overall. I wanted to challenge myself which made me do wrestling. Also the fact that it’s an independent sport. What you put in, is what you receive. I feel blessed that I’m athlete of the year, it’s an amazing accomplishment. I would describe myself as hard working. -Judith Hernandez
“I’ve done track, football, and wrestling. I wanted to do these sport because they’re a challenge and I love the competitive nature. It’s an honor to be athlete of the year, wouldn’t think in my 4 years of high school I’d leave a legacy. I would describe myself as an athlete as a leader by example, someone who does the job so others can too. It’s crazy to leave my name for the sports and athleticism I’ve done the last 2 years.” -Juan Guzman
