Yesterday, March 27th, Key Club hosted the annual Blood Drive in the 500’s building. Students and staff were able to donate blood on campus for people in need, throughout the day. I asked people who participated in the event to talk about their experience.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to donate. I didn’t meet the height & weight requirements. Although I couldn’t donate, I will still encourage other people to try. I felt very defeated, angry & disappointed with myself because I wasn’t able to donate my blood & help people who are in dire need of my blood. To my friends & strangers who are unable to donate due to any circumstances, I say to you “ don’t ever give up, try again, you may surprise yourself in actually donating one day”. Isis Diaz(12)My experience was really fun I had a great time helping out in the blood drive and making sure everybody was okay. I didn’t get any blood taken from me due to the fact that I was sick. I donated last year and I felt a little bit tired. My reason for donating was getting the chance to make a difference and help save a life. When I donated last year I was nervous because it was my first time giving blood. I would totally do it again I actually donated 3 times already. Karina Martinez (12)My experience with the blood drive was amazing it wasn’t painful and I felt good after donating. My reason for donating was that I’ve donated in the past and it was very convenient that the blood drive was at school. I wasn’t nervous because I’ve donated before and know how it feels. I would donate again because it’s for a good cause. Mayra Bautista (12) (Far Left)
