Winter Sports Update

Girls CIFSS Championships (Masters)

This past weekend was filled with excitement, celebration, and unfortunately some tears as our Lady Panthers battled the best wrestlers in the CIF Southern Section. Beginning Day 1 with 12 wrestlers, PVHS managed only 3 wrestlers into Day 2. Senior/Captain Judith Hernandez (121lb), Sophomore Mya Valasquez, (126lb) and Junior Liz Pompa (143lb). Both Judith, and Liz were eliminated in the “Blood Round”, leaving Mya to lead the way towards her 2nd State Meet bid. Congratulations to Mya, 2nd place CIFSS Championships.

Boys Wrestling

The boys finished 4th this past weekend at the League Finals Tournament.  They qualified 11 wrestlers and 3 alternates to this weekends’ CIF division regionals.  Elias Zepeda finished as a league champion in his weight class.

Boys Soccer

Enters the CIF play-offs (10th consecutive year) as the #2 team from the PAC 8 and will play at Quartz Hill this Friday.  If they are fortunate enough to win on Friday then they have a good chance to get a home game on February 21st.

Boys Basketball

With Friday night’s win at Righetti the boys finished with a school record 16 wins (16-11, 7-7 in PAC 8) and received their first ever birth in the CIF play-offs.  They will play St. Bonaventure on Wednesday at 5:30 (at Ventura College).  If they are fortunate enough to win that game they have a very good chance of playing at Home this Friday night.

Congratulations to all of your PVHS Winter Sport Teams and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
