A Black Woman for President?
The PT’s put out a survey asking “Which celebrity would you vote for in the 2020 Presidential Election” and 34% voted for Oprah Winfrey, 34% voted for Michelle Obama, 17% voted for Kanye West, and 15% voted for Dwayne “The Rock ” Johnson. Oprah Winfrey has denied claims of running for President despite the popular opinion that she should. Michelle Obama has not made any claims of running for President but many people stand behind the motion. Kanye West announced that he would run for President back in 2015 during the VMA’s although the public has not taken this claim seriously. In December of 2017 Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was asked on The Ellen Show if he would consider running and he said he was “seriously considering it”. But many people think that the next president should not be another celebrity but someone who’s actually educated in politics rather than pop culture.
The votes tied with Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama. So the question is: could we see a black woman president in 2020? I feel that the 2020 elections are going to be very important and be the counteract for what we see in the current administration. We don’t want to see another celebrity figure who’s clearly unqualified. I think that popularity isn’t enough to sustain stamina during those elections any more. I hope the American people have learned and have come to their senses. If the climate of the current white house hasn’t taught you anything then you should watch the news more often. I feel that a woman president is in order and especially a woman of color but we shouldn’t vote for some one because of gender or color but for the person them self. What can they do to better the country and help the American people? Do they care about the people or the corporations? These are all critical questions we should be asking ourselves when voting. We need a president with integrity and hopefully we get that in 2020.
