The Pioneer Valley High School Men’s Soccer had a great season!! This
season both men’s Varsity and Junior Varsity soccer teams worked hard.
Each team had one player the coaches recognized for their hard work this
season. On varsity senior Javier Villafan and on junior varsity sophomore
Jairo Basurto were both seen for their outstanding effort during their
season. Men’s Varsity had a big win over AG here at home winning 2-1.
Men’s Varsity also had huge wins according to MaxPreps winning over
Nipomo winning 5-0 and Cabrillo 3-0 both complete shut outs. Along with
varsity’s success junior varsity had a huge win 12-0 over Centennial. Junior
varsity had 5 shutouts all season. Head coach of men’s soccer Allan
Brafman said his team could grow next season with more “commitment
and preparation for the long season.” Junior Varsity head coach Giovanni
Garica said his team could improve next season with more “confidence
and mindsets of a champion.”

The Pioneer Valley High School Women’s Soccer had a terrific season!!
Women’s varsity ended up taking 3rd in ocean league this year. Varsity
goalie Alex Aldama ended up having 3 shutouts this season. Along with
junior varsity goalie Crystal Ortiz had 11 saves this season. Head coach of

varsity Victor Jerez recognized senior Jules Hernandez as his hardest

worker this season. Junior varsity head coach Salamon Rubio recognized

Bryana Juarez for her efforts this season. He said “her focus and
dedication to soccer is unbelievable. Bryana will be at every JV practice
and still sometimes attend the varsity putting so much hard work.” Varsity
had a big win beating cross-town rivals SM at SM 2-1. Junior varsity had
a big win over SM at SM 2-1 as well.
