Net neutrality

Net+neutrality

Net neutrality has been a big topic for the past couple of months. If you don’t know what net neutrality is, it is the tax and charge on internet usage and it is the limitations to what you can watch on TV or access. The government is trying to charge American’s for using social cites such as, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube etc. And this week I interviewed people on what they thought about Net neutrality.

“I personally think Net neutrality is dumb. There’s no point in charging us for internet usage and apps. Limiting us just makes it frustrating, putting a tax on it makes the government richer and makes the large companies lose money. No one really wants to pay for apps along with internet and their phone bill. If that’s the case, then what’s the point in carrying a phone if it’s going to be useless? – Keylani Craig (10)

“I have a huge doubt that Net neutrality will happen because people in America will try and go against the government and override them. But if it were to happen I would be pretty mad because why would I carry a phone if I had to pay for internet usage along with apps and my phone bill? It’d just be way to expensive.” -Angel Fernandez (10)

“To me, the internet and apps are one of the biggest things since sliced bread. It’s 2 things that humans can’t live without. And all of sudden they want to charge us for that kind of stuff? I don’t want my cell phone or TV provider to tell me what to access and what not to access. Nor do I want the government doing that. So in my honest opinion, Net Neutrality is STUPID. ” – Hannah Reynolds (9)

“Whoever thought Net Neutrality would benefit us is really ignorant and senseless. Limiting us on internet, TV, and apps is only going to make huge companies lose money because no one wants to pay for all that stuff. If they limit us on what we use they better get limitations also because that’s so hypocritical if they limit us and not themselves.” -(right) Elijah Bloodworth (10)

“I’m all for Net Neutrality because maybe it will benefit the larger companies to gain money. And maybe it will make the people of this generation not be so glued to their phones. Yeah, I’m a little sad because I won’t be able to watch Netflix or use the internet as much as I used to but at least I won’t be so glued to my phone.” – (left) Kim Paulino (10)
