“Paris is Burning” Fashion Show Fascinates both Adults and Students

To start off the show, director Zander Moreno wobbled in heels to the sultry guitar intro of Black Magic Woman. After picking up the microphone, he began his speech thanking “Ms. Maldonado, the committee: Kihabet Alcorta, Angie Pena, the administration (who let us use this facility)” and continued to dedicate the fashion show to Venus Xtravanganza. During the show, each category was called beginning with Drag and ending with Cultural Appreciation with performances by Allan Holguin and Ballet Folklorico. Jessie Funes, co-founder of HOPE (House of Pride and Equality), gave a speech about resources, her mission, a thank you to the director, and outreach that included upcoming events. All $384 made at concessions and tickets will be donated to HOPE.
